Macromedia contacted me to create a sample application for the DevNet Resource Kit volume 6. The greatest part about these projects, is that they give us full reign on what we want to create. My brother Daniel and I decided to create an application utilizing the new RSS Feed from Apple listing the latest and greatest songs for the iTunes Music Store.

When I decided to redesign my site, I knew that it had to be clean, easy to update, and also ALL CSS! When creating the work portion of my site (what you are looking at now) it was extremely easy due to the clean code, and CSS design. CSS isn’t the easiest thing to code in, but in the end, it saves you a lot more time.

Weather Application

Details:

Macromedia contacted me to create two sample applications for the DevNet Resource Kit volume 5. The Weather App was the first of the two applications ( Font Browser was the second ). This application uses the EJSE weather feed to generate weather reports for selected zip codes. When generated, the report shows the current days High, Low, Forecast, and Wind Speed. It also shows the five day forecast, with the High, Low, and Forecast. The application also features the use of Local SharedObjects, allowing you to save your zip codes, for easier retrieval.

Font Browser

Details:

Macromedia contacted me to create two sample applications for the DevNet Resource Kit volume 5. The Font Browser was the second of the two applications ( Weather App was the first ). This application loads the fonts on your computer, and allows you to display them in two sizes, and also allows you to align the text Left, Center, or Right. You can also dynamically generate Pangrams into the preview field to view a more realistic preview of the font.

DRK Interface Redesign

Commerce Search

Details:

Macromedia asked my brother Daniel and I to create a couple sample applications for the 4th version of the DevNet Resource Kit. The Commerce Search Application was one of the applications we decided to develop (the other was Pollster). This application uses the Amazon API to search through Books, Music, DVDs and more. Once an item is added to the cart, and you decide to checkout, it takes you to the Amazon.com checkout service, where you finish the transaction.

When Macromedia contacted me for ideas on work for the DevNet Resource Kit version 4, I had thought of an idea to create a library of graphics, that developers could use in their Applications. There are a total of 57 individual graphics in the library. The library includes 5 categories: Files, Icons, Objects, OS Objects, and Sound Buttons.

Google Search Application

Details:

Mike Chambers contacted me, needing a design for the Google Search Application that he was developing. He wanted something simple, yet useable and unique. The Google Search Application interface was one of the most fun projects I have worked on to date. It allows you to search the web using the Google API, list Recent Searches, and has a slew of Preferences for you to customize your search.

MXNA

Shortly after the launch of the redesigned Macromedia Weblogs, Mike Chambers asked me if I would be interested in designing the interface for an online HTML aggregator. Thus, MXNA was born. Thanks to Christian Cantrell and Mike Chambers for developing the backend to MXNA.
